Vera’s story

Vera’s story

This is a true story.
About Vera and what has happened to her.
She’s Brazilian, 40 years old and pretty poor but hardworking. She comes from a very  modest family and always dreamed of giving her children what she never had: security, education, love. She works 365 days a year, 10 hours a day. At nights she  arrives home exhausted but with a smile on her face, knowing she’s doing the right thing.
Working.
Being honest.
Praying.
With all her effort she managed to buy a tiny wooden house in a poor neighbourhood. It was tiny. Old. But hers. She bought it and was extremely happy about it. Thank God she had a house! She had to be grateful for this blessing.
Vera went to live there with her two kids. People from the school she works in decided to help her out and surprised her with material to build a wall and two little windows for her to install. Vera had never expected such a wonderful gift. When she saw it, she started to cry. She had never asked for anything. She had never complained or even been in a bad mood when she was facing difficulties. And now this amazing gift! Two brandnew windows for her and material for a huge wall around her lot. Finally! God had heard her prayers! She got a little house and her kids could play there in the backyard. She would improve it, step by step. She would work even harder to make everything better for her and her kids.
Thank God! She was so grateful
When the windows were installed, the house painted and the wall ready they came. During the night. With machine guns. RUN! This is not yours anymore. Run for your children’s sake! This is now our territory! Got it? Don’t you ever come back here! We’ll kill your kids first, and then you. Ah, wait. We’ll rape you first. And kill you afterwards! We’ll find you wherever you go.

Run!
Run....
Run!

Thank God!
Her kids are alive.
She has to be grateful.
