I know he didn't ask for it
but I gave him my fingers.
All of them.
When there weren't any left
I gave him the palm of my hands.
And when I didn't have any hands
I gave him both of my arms.
He didn't ask for it,
but I gave him my shoulders,
I knew he needed them.
And he looked at me
when I gave him my breast
and my stomach
and my back
and my legs.
Both of my knees.
He didn't ask for it,
but I saw he needed my feet
and each of my toes.
And when I surrendered my heart
he smiled and walked away.
My head aches.
