There's a land

There’s a land where bread is like religion
and beer is like bread.
Where they write poems to the trees
and the courts are full of lawsuits
because the neighbour’s tree is growing
to the wrong side of the fence.
Where women are heavy and men soft
where dogs are welcome and children not.

There’s a land where these dogs have to pay taxes
and can go to restaurants.
Where they build walls against the noise
and still complain it’s too loud.
Where every vehicle has a separate lane
and you can lose your driver’s license
walking on the wrong side of the sidewalk.

There’s a land where a King prohibitted potatoes,
so the folk would want to eat it and wouldn’t starve.
Where the longest word can always get longer and
they got a word for everything.
Where there was communism and democracy at
the same time in the same town
and real freedom you only feel driving
a car on a Autobahn.

There's a land where the press was invented
and the atomic bomb
and the car
and the MPP3
and coffee filters
and so many other things
like the word "Schadenfreude".
Where cars are better treated than wifes
and the first sentence of the constitution talks about dignity.

There’s a land
I don’t always understand,
but I call it home.
